Subliminal Lounge #05: Sunergy

Subliminal Lounge is an audio & visual series initiated by Re-Records & SECOND to interactively explore and recreate the connection between moving images and sound.
In this 5th edition, we collaborate with press : release again for the film screening of Sunergy, a documentary by Sean Hellfritsch on the collaboration of Suzanne Clani & Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. In this 2016 collaboration, Clani & Smith shared their creative passion of Buchla synthesiser and the result was the album Sunergy released by RVNG.
Before the film screening, there will be audio & visual live sets presented by Bill Hsu, Nelson Hiu, Dennis Wong, Viola Yip and Fafael Kalil.
Bill Hsu works with electronics and real-time video. His work mostly involves using gestural interfaces to control animation and sound synthesis, and building real-time audio-visual systems that interact with human performers.He is an active artist and scholar from San Francisco Bay area.
Nelson Hiu is one of the most important pioneers of improvising music in Hong Kong. He is an extremely versatile instrumentalist whose works defies music genres and categorisation.
Dennis Wong aka Sin:Ned, is an anti-instrumentalist, event organiser and label operator from Hong Kong.
Viola Yip, a New York based Hong Kong composer and performer, will be presenting her new work “Bulbble”.
Rafael Kalil is a music explorer and instrumentalist who plays cello like guitar.
